LONDON - Fed up with members of his expensively-assembled Manchester City squad, boss Robert Mancini has asked his sulking stars to stop complaining and concentrate on winning a trophy for the club.

Mancini said: “It’s important that we start to change the players’ mentality if we want to win something and become a top team. It’s impossible that every few days a player does an interview saying ‘Oh, I’m not playing’.”

“It’s important he can knock on my door and speak with me and I will explain the situation, because sometimes I choose one player because it is a tactical situation,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.

“The FA have changed the rules to 25 players in a squad and if they change the rules so we can play with 12 or 13 in the team, then some players will be happy!”

Mancini believes stars at clubs such as United have got so used to the team being rotated that they do not complain.

“Other teams probably have a different mentality as all the players know the manager is going to change things from game to game. At the minute we play every three days and all the players who are available have played,” he said.

“They must understand the manager chooses 11 players not because Manu or Balotelli or Kolo are not good players, but because in that moment I’m choosing this player and after three days I can change. I want a mentality like at United and Chelsea,” he added.

Manu Adebayor has been the most frustrated of the outfield players for being left out of the playing eleven. And keeper Shay Given has said that he needs to get away to play first-team football. (ANI)
