Former track leader got raise before firing
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — According to documents reviewed by The Associated Press, leaders at USA Track and Field started the process of firing CEO Doug Logan fewer than 10 days after approving a new contract that called for him to get a $140,000-per-year raise, acc
Logan showed the AP a copy of his new contract, signed by chairman and president Stephanie Hightower on June 27. On July 6, Logan was asked to meet with Hightower to receive an evaluation that led to his firing earlier this month.
Logan received an additional $140,000 a year in guaranteed salary in exchange for taking less in incentives. Hightower said the raise and firing were issues on two separate tracks that happened to coincide. It could, however, cost USA Track up to $465,000 if it is forced to pay out Logan’s contract through 2013.
