DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Chennai Superkings took on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in what was one of the most anticipated matches for the Indian cricket fans in the Champions League T20 so far. Though the weather threatened to stop the match at any point the players continued the battle on field. The game was shortened to 17 overs for each side and looking at the wet and slippery outfield the experts knew that it was going to be a hard time for the team bowling first.

Chennai Superkings won the toss and chose to bat first. With fantastic momentum gained in the tournament so far, MS Dhoni’s men looked threatening from the very start against the toothless Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling attack. With the absence of Dale Steyn due to injury, the opening bowlers struggled against the onslaught of Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay. It was Suresh Raina, however, who continued his terrific run in the tournament with a 67 ball 94 that had 6 sixes and 5 fours in it. Considering that a veteran like Anil Kumble went for 38 in his 4 overs, the Royal Challengers Bangalore were given an almost insurmountable target of 175 in 17 overs.

Reeling at 12/3 in the 4th over, the Royal Challengers Bangalore never really looked in the hunt. Rahul Dravid, Ross Taylor and Robin Utthapa failing to cross the double digit mark, it looked like it was just a matter of time that the Royal Challengers Bangalore will be wrapping up their innings. It was resilient batting from Manish Pandey that saw his side cross the 3 digit mark in the end. The Chennai Superkings go through to the finals where they will be facing the winner of the second semi-final between South Australia and the Warriors.
