No sleep for Ogilvy, Aussie team playing for title

ATLANTA — Geoff Ogilvy is just one stroke off the lead heading to the third round of season-ending Tour Championship.

But cashing a big paycheck isn’t the only thing on his mind.

Shortly after midnight, his favorite team back home, the St. Kilda Saints, are facing the Collingwood Magpies in the Grand Final of the Australian Football League before an expected crowd of some 100,000 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Ogilvy plans to stay up late watching the Aussie rules game on television, even though it’s not likely to end until around 3 a.m. Atlanta time. He’s scheduled to tee off at 11:15 a.m. Saturday but that doesn’t matter.

Ogilvy says there’s no way he’s missing a chance to watch his team play for his first title since 1966.
