James Madison defeats Liberty 10-3

HARRISONBURG, Va. — Drew Dudzik threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Griff Yancey in the second quarter and James Madison’s defense stood strong to beat Liberty 10-3 on Saturday night.

The touchdown gave the Dukes (3-0) a 7-3 lead with 53 seconds left in the second quarter, capping a three-play, 70-yard drive highlighted by a 39-yard run by Dudzik.

The Flames (2-2) drove to the James Madison 30 on their first possession of the second half, but Vidal Nelson blocked a 47-yard field goal attempt.

The Dukes took over at their 41 and drove to the Liberty 5, and Dixon Wright kicked a 22-yard field goal for a 10-3 lead.

Taveion Cuffee’s 11-yard interception return with 2:09 left gave James Madison the ball at the Liberty 47. The Dukes ran out the clock as Scott Noble, who had 89 yards on 17 rushes, carried on five straight plays for 16 yards and a clinching first down.
