LONDON - World number 16 Ian Poulter has said that he cannot wait to get stuck into Tiger Woods after they were drawn against each other in the opening round of Ryder Cup matches.

Poulter and Ross Fisher will take on Woods and Steve Stricker - and the English duo reacted by punching the air in delight.

Poulter beamed: “Tiger and Stricker - if there was ever a match you are going to want to play in it is the one against their best two players.

“It’s truly sensational. We’re both very up for it and we’ll sleep well thinking about how fantastic it is going to be. Tiger is world No 1 and Stricker is No 4, so they are both world-class players. It’s going to be a hell of a match,” The Sun quoted Poultwer, as saying.

“I cannot wait. The crowd will be massive - Tiger pulls a few people - and the atmosphere will be electric. It’s going to be noisy and it needs to be. The roar on the first tee will be sensational,” he added.

He further said: “I can’t wait to get pumped for it and to give the spectators some feedback. Let’s give them what they want and put some European blue on the board.” (ANI)
