LSU DE Montgomery hurt
BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU starting defensive end Sam Montgomery was helped off the field with an apparent right leg injury during the first quarter of the 12th-ranked Tigers’ home game against Tennessee on Saturday.
Montgomery, a redshirt freshman, was writhing in pain and threw off his helmet while trainers rushed to his side and started checking his leg. He put minimal pressure on the injured leg while being helped to the sideline, each of his arms over the shoulders of a trainer.
Montgomery entered the game with 18 tackles, including two sacks among his six tackles for losses.
Lavar Edwards took over for Montgomery at right end.
