MOHALI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- On the fourth day of the first test between India and Australia the balance seems to be shifting towards the host finally as the Australian batting order has almost crumbled in their second innings. The match which looked evenly poised till the 3rd day, now looks ready for a result which most can predict will be in India’s favor.

The Australians started off in their second innings with a slim lead of 23 runs and the batsmen were hoping for a good start on the fourth day to capitalize on the lead and reach a no-loss scenario. The Indian bowlers, however, ensured that the Australian batsmen are kept under pressure and took wickets at regular intervals on the crucial day. In spite of the openers getting off to a healthy start, the Australian upper middle order failed to trouble the scorers much and soon they were seen reeling at 165/6 at tea. Ishant Sharma who walked out of the field with a knee complication in the first innings looked in terrific form on Day 4. After dismissing the dangerous Shane Watson with a short ball, he got rid of Ricky Ponting, who had the potential to turn the match on its head.

The rest of the Australian middle order looked out of sorts against veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and the lower order was wrapped by Zaheer Khan who finished with figures of 3/43 for the innings. Bundled out for 192 the Australians now have the uphill task of dismissing the famed Indian batting line-up before it reaches the comfortable target of 216 for victory.
