ICC Awards 2010 To Be Announced On Wednesday

BANGALORE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The International Cricket Council will conduct the ICC Awards for the year 2009-10 on Wednesday and fans all over the world will be hoping for their favorite stars to win the prestigious honors. Every year the organization takes into account the performance of individual players as well as teams and there are a total of 9 individual and 3 team honors to be won.
For India, the obvious favorites are Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar for the tests. With Sachin Tendulkar crossing the 1000 run mark for the year in tests this year as well, it looks like the competition is fierce between the two stalwarts. Another test batsman who is in the hunt to win the best cricketer of the year is Hashim Amla, the South African opener who has been the anchor for the side in some critical tests. Another South African who is in the news after his nomination for two categories that includes the ICC People’s Choice Award, is AB de Villiers. The Delhi Daredevil will be performing at the event that takes place in Bangalore, Karnataka.
The ICC Awards 2010 will also recognize the performance of the women cricketers who recently played the T20 world cup. Graeme Swann and Andrew Strauss are two players from England who have been nominated for the awards. Umar Akmal from Pakistan and Angelo Mathews from Sri Lanka have been nominated in the category of emerging cricketer. The ICC Awards will also induct former Indian spin legend and cricket expert Bishen Singh Bedi into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
