NEW DELHI - Commonwealth Games Federation President Michael Fennell on Monday said New Delhi has ‘benefitted tremendously’ by hosting the XIXth Commonwealth Games as it got an opportunity to improve the city’s infrastructure.

“You have to bear in mind that Delhi has not hosted a big event after 1982. This is a city of 17 millions and they seized the opportunity (to host the event) ,” said Fennel.

“As the city has a 17 million population, the city badly needed good sports venues and they used this opportunity to get new stadiums. In addition to this, the city used this opportunity to improve its infrastructure and benefitted tremendously,” he added. (ANI)
