NEW DELHI - The Bharatiya Janata Party Monday demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into alleged irregularities in the ticketing system for the Commonwealth Games after the mega event concludes Oct 14.

Vijendra Gupta, president of the Delhi unit of the BJP, also asked the central government to make arrangements to keep all the papers connected with the sale and distribution of tickets and passes in safe custody till the probe begins.

Gupta said all officials dealing with CWG ticket sales and distribution should be suspended till the inquiry into the matter is completed.

Of the 1.7 million Commonwealth Games tickets, the bulk reached the counters a day after the Opening Ceremony - some even so late that they ended up with the scrap dealer.

In an indication of the enormity of the CWG ticket fiasco, Sanjeev Mittal, the ticketing head of the Commonwealth Games, was sacked Sunday by the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee.
