SYDNEY - Australian batsman Marcus North, who reached 1000 Test runs in the course of his 128 against India at Bangalore, was thrilled to score his ton on the same ground and watch Sachin Tendulkar score 14,000 runs.

“He’s a pretty amazing player isn’t he, and to be on the same ground when he brought up his 14,000th Test run is pretty special and I guess it is a credit to his career, to the longevity of the guy,” North said of Tendulkar.

“You talk about the pressures of Test cricket, this guy’s got the pressure of a nation on him, so he’s proven to be a class player and he showed that last week (in Mohali),” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.

“To see him bring up his 14,000 runs in the same game as I brought up my first thousand, puts things in perspective,” North said.

North is playing his 19th Test whereas Tendulkar is taking part in his 171st.

The Western Australian batsman is also trying to sort out the technical glitches in his.

“I’ve been working with Vinnie (coach Tim Nielsen) this week, just about getting a really positive stride down the wicket, working on my on-drive,” North said.

“That really sets my position up and I felt walking in Sunday against Zaheer Khan that my feet were moving probably as well as they have been for a while, so that probably had a bit to do with starting well and carrying it through,” he said. (ANI)
