NEW DELHI - As the curtains come down this evening with a grand finale of the XIXth Commonwealth Games, India, which is shining with its best ever medal haul with 36 Golds will make a last-ditch effort to finish second in the medal’s tally with all eyes on men’s hockey team and ace shuttler Saina Nehwal.

The men’s hockey clash between the hosts and world champion Australia is expected to be a real thriller with India already scripting history by ensuring themselves at least a silver medal since hockey’s introduction in the Games in the 1998 Kuala Lampur edition after beating England 5-4 via tie-breaker in a dramatic second semi-final on Tuesday.

Saina Nehwal, who has been in red-hot form this year, will play the final against Malaysian Mew Choo Wong.

Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa have kept Indian’s hopes alive in women’s doubles final. (ANI)
