Clear skies in Delhi as CWG ends

NEW DELHI - It was a bright morning with clear skies in the Indian capital Thursday, the day the Commonwealth Games draw to a close. A sunny and humid day is in store with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius.

“The day will be sunny and humidity will be high which may cause some discomfort to the athletes participating in the marathon event,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The marathon event, which began early morning Thursday for both and men and women athletes, will be completed by 10.30 a.m.

The met office said the skies will remain clear. The minimum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius, three notches above the average for this time of the season.

The maximum humidity level would be at a high of around 81 percent while the minimum was 31 percent, the official said.

The weatherman forecast a dry spell in the coming days.
