NEW DELHI - Security agencies have alerted the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee and the Delhi government against attempts by anti-social elements to loot and vandalise the plethora of decorations and fittings installed in the city for the 12-day Games, a senior police official said.

“We will be continuing the surveillance outside the stadiums for some more time after the closing ceremony. This is following information about attempts at vandalism, which will tarnish the name the Delhi Games earned,” a senior police official told IANS.

He said a skeletal group of security personnel will continue to guard key locations.

Security agencies have warned that vandals may target buntings, signages, electric illuminations, metal frills and fences and even the flower pots placed outside the stadiums and at road intersections.
