KARACHI - The tennis duo comprising Rohan Bopanna of India and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan has advanced into the quarterfinals of the ATP Master Tennis Championship men’s doubles event in Shanghai.
The ‘Indo-Pak Express’ was in a lethal form against the tallest team on the ATP Tour, 6 feet 8 inches tall Dick Norman of Belgium and 6 feet 5 inches tall Wesley Moodie of South Africa, The News reported.
Aisam-Bopanna marched into the quarterfinals after slamming 12 aces while their opponents could hit only five.
On their way to winning the match in 75 minutes, the Asian team played near perfect tennis as they were never a break point down on their serve, but themselves set up three break points. By availing one break point in each set, they broke their opponents serve during the 8th game in the first set and 11th game in the second.
They sealed their victory against the seeded pair with a score of 6-3, 7-5. Aisam-Bopanna won 63 points in total as against 45 by their opponents.
In the next round, they will either face Leander Paes and Jurgen Melzer, or Janko Tipsarevic and Thomaz Bellucci. (ANI)
