NEW DELHI - Home Minister P. Chidambaram has lauded Delhi Police for making “foolproof security arrangements” for the Commonwealth Games without which it could not become a success story.
“I wish to express my deep appreciation of the splendid achievement of the Delhi Police in making foolproof security arrangements,” the minister said in a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal.
“I offer you and your team — down to the newly recruited constables — my warm congratulations (for) rising to the occasion and for winning the gratitude of everyone concerned, especially the athletes and spectators.
“But for the foolproof security arrangements, the Commonwealth Games would not have been the success that they turned out to be,” he said.
Chidambaram said he was aware that Delhi Police were ably assisted by several men and women from the central paramilitary forces and promised to thank them too.
“In particular, I wish to compliment the Venue Commanders at the Games venues, training venues and the Games Village… Once again my warm congratulations and good wishes.”
