LONDON - England’s football stars had held an eight-hour Xbox tournament before last Tuesday’s Euro 2012 qualifier 0-0 draw against Montenegro.
Although captain Rio Ferdinand and his team did not deliver on the pitch, they displayed some silky skills on Xbox, the Daily Star reports.
The tournament was set up by striker Darren Bent, who took on Ferdinand in the final and won 3-2 at the end of a gruelling session.
“Considering Darren has played an average 8hrs a day since we been ere I done not too bad!” Ferdinand tweeted after the match.
Ferdinand also hailed Manchester United star Wayne Rooney for his finishing skills in the tournament.
“Wazza is the man on FIFA so far, da kid just knows how to finish… its what I’m hearing anyway! We all on the same team later!!” another tweet said.
Xbox games are popular amongst footballers, but sports psychologists fear that overplaying can affect performance and lead to developing addictions. (ANI)
