SYDNEY - England wicketkeeper Matt Prior has lauded the closeness of the team ahead of next month’s crucial Ashes series against Australia.
“I look around that dressing room now and there isn’t one person in it who doesn’t have that fight and that fire in their belly to say, ‘I will never give up, I want to succeed’,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Prior, as saying.
“I think the most amazing thing about this team now is that guys are saying instead of wanting to succeed for themselves, they want to succeed for their teammates.”
“It is very different to have a group of guys who are willing to take on the challenge together. Everything seems like a smaller obstacle to overcome then. It’s a very powerful thing. Those fighting qualities have become part and parcel of being an international cricketer,” he added.
The first of the five Ashes Tests will be held at The Gabba in Brisbane from November 25 to 29.
It will be followed by Tests in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
The tour also has two Twenty20 clashes and a seven-match ODI series.(ANI)
