SYDNEY - Former Australian captain Allan Border believes that South Australia batsman Callum Ferguson has all the requisite ammunition to be a future Australian captain.
“The times I have seen him he has appeared a very level-headed young man. I think he would make a very good captain,” Fox Sports quoted Border, as sasying.
“He has good tactical nous and because of the kind of person he is, he would have guys wanting to play for him, which is important,” he added.
Border’s views were supported by former Australian opening batsman Greg Blewett, who has rated Ferguson highly since his first-class debut in 2004-05.
“Callum has the game to succeed at international level. He generally scores at a run a ball and he is a very good player,” Blewett said.
“He has worked very hard and has now come back from two knee reconstructions,” he added.
Appointed as South Australia vice-captain this season, Ferguson averages 46 in 25 ODIs for Australia. (ANI)
