LONDON - Images of Australian skipper Ricky Ponting and vice-captain Michael Clarke were projected on London’s iconic landmark Big Ben as part of an advertising campaign ahead of the upcoming Ashes series.
A reminder -”Don’t forget to pack the urn”- accompanied the images.
Ponting said that the campaign was meant to put the England team on notice as they prepare to fly out to Australia on Friday.
“Winning the urn back from our age-old rival is the most prized achievement for Australians and we just wanted to send them a reminder not to leave the urn behind,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Ponting, as saying.
“Our message is clear - we’re prepared and we’re ready, so bring on the Ashes,” he added.
England’s tour of Australia gets under way on November 5 with a warm-up game against Western Australia.
The first of the five Ashes Tests will be held at The Gabba in Brisbane from November 25 to 29.
It will be followed by Tests in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
The tour also has two Twenty20 clashes and a seven-match ODI series. (ANI)
