Shunglu interviewing candidates for panel

NEW DELHI - V.K. Shunglu, who heads the prime minister-appointed committee probing financial irregularities in the Commonwealth Games, is currently busy shortlisting candidates for his team, official sources said here Thursday.

“Six candidates have been called today (Thursday), whom Shunglu is currently interviewing, a source told IANS.

Although Shunglu’s office has yet not been completely furnished, he has been frequenting the place, the source said.

A former comptroller and auditor general (CAG) of India, Shunglu was appointed to head the inquiry committee Oct 15, a day after the Commonwealth Games ended.

Shantanu Consul, secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training, was named the panel’s second member. He is expected to join the committee next week after his retirement Oct 31.
