LONDON - Triple Formula One world champion Sir Jack Brabham has said that Red Bull’s Mark Webber has blown his chances of winning this year’s title, and will never get another opportunity.

Brabham is a big supporter of Webber, and is anxious for him to break Australia’s 30-year drought since Alan Jones’ 1980 championship.

“That would be fantastic, it would mean a lot to me and it would mean a lot to Australia, but unfortunately I think his real opportunity has been blown last weekend,” the Sun quoted Brabham, as saying.

“I’m really there behind him in the hope that he gets there, but if he doesn’t do it this year I don’t think he ever will, personally. He was there with a (14) points lead so now he’s back in the grid and that’s going to make it very, very difficult,” he added.

Webber had crashed out of Sunday’s Korean Grand Prix.

The 84-year-old further said that Webber is a very good driver, but makes mistakes, which would probably cost him the championship.

“He’s battled for years because he hasn’t had the bloody car and this is the first year you could say he’s competitive and he’s been out there and he’s almost as good as Vettel,” Brabham said.

Webber is 21 points behind championship leader Fernando Alonso with only two races remaining. (ANI)
