Andy Irons Passes Away

HONOLULU(GaeaTimes.com)- A former American world champion surfer, Andy Irons breathed his last yesterday on his way home from the tournament in Puerto Rico. The cause of death is still unknown, however, some of the media houses have reported Dengu Fever as the possible reason. Andy Irons was found dead at a hotel near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where he was staying. He was 31 year old and his wife Lyndie, is pregnant and the couple’s first child.

Andy Irons‘ father Phil Irons confirmed the news to the media and Association of Surfing Professionals also released a statement after his unfortunate demise. The statement stated that the world of surfing mourns an incredibly loss with the news that Hawaii’s Andy Irons is dead. Association of Surfing Professionals’ statement also maintained that Andy Irons was a beloved husband and a “true champion”. The media outlets reported that Andy Irons withdrew from a professional surfing event in Puerto Rico last weekend due to his illness. His family told a reputed media source that he passed away during a layover en-route to his home in Kauai, Hawaii. Australian former world champion Mark Occhilupo expressed his condolence at the sudden demise of the surfer and said that when he heard the news, he could not stop his tears.

Andy Irons‘ family released a statement after his sad demise where they thanked his friends and his fans for their support. At the same time his family has asked everyone to respect their privacy. His family has asked not to contact them so that their “focus” can remain on only one thing during their time of “profound loss”. The three-time world surfing champion Andy Irons was considered one of the best “competitive surfers” of all time. His family has not yet announced anything about the funeral.
