LONDON - Manchester City’s away loss to Lech Poznan in the Europa League has increased pressure on under-fire manager Roberto Mancini.
The English Premier League side have now lost three games in a row with media reports claiming the Italian has clashed with striker Carlos Tevez and that other players are unhappy with his coaching methods.
Mancini justified the Thursday’s loss by saying the team played a good game and sometimes despite playing better football, you end up on the losing side.
“I am disappointed because we did not deserve to lose the game,” Mancini was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
“At the moment everything is against us. We played a good game and we had a lot of chances to win. This is football. We have lost the last three games but that is football. Sometimes you deserve to score but you do not.
On the opponents, he said,”Poznan were very lucky. I am disappointed to lose the game but I am happy because the players played a good game. Now it is important that we keep going.”
However, Manchester City are still top in their Eurpoa League group and lying fourth in the English Premier League.
