GUANGZHOU - International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge Saturday said Guangzhou has the “skill” to host the Olympic Games.
“Guangzhou definitely has the skill to do that,” the Olympic chief told Xinhua when asked about the 2010 Asian Games host’s ability to host an Olympics.
Rogge attended Friday’s Asian Games opening ceremony.
“Guangzhou would have the expertise and experience from these games,” said Rogge, who described the opening ceremony as “absolutely fantastic”.
Guangzhou is the second Chinese city to host the Asian Games. Beijing staged the event in 1990.
