Asian Games snooker: Advani knocked out, Aditya in quarters

GUANGZHOU - India’s Pankaj Advani lost 1-4 to Junhui Ding of China in the men’s snooker pre-quarterfinals while compatriot Adiya Mehta reached the last eight stage, overcoming Yu-Lun Wu of Chinese Taipei 4-2 at the Asian Games here Friday.

Adtiya was impressive in his 67-39, 49-69, 74-42, 16-69, 35-0, 24-37 win against Yu-Lun in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, the biggest disappointement of the day was when the seasoned Advani bowed out.

Advani, who won the gold in billiards singles, found it hard to compete with the top-seed Junhui and lost 11-100, 86-0, 1-84, 0-88, 7-88 in the men’s snooker singles.

India have so far won three cue sports medals at the Games.
