VADODARA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It looks like captaincy has worked well for Gautam Gambhir’s form as the left-handed batsmen has yet again played a match-winning innings against New Zealand in the third ODI at Vadodara. Scoring another century, at more than run-a-ball, Gautam Gambhir has stamped his authority over the New Zealand and also confirmed his return to form. The Ind Vs. NZ ODI was also a crucial one as it was New Zealand’s last chance to comeback into the series. Daniel Vettori’s hopes, however, were shattered quite brutally, thanks to the disciplined bowling and well paced knock by Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.

The start could not have been worse for New Zealand in the 3rd Ind Vs. NZ ODI. With hard hitter Brendon McCullum gone in the very first over, the rest of the batting looked shaky against the newly-returned Indian veteran, Zaheer Khan. Wickets fell at regular intervals till the 30th over and the visitors were soon left reeling at 106/7 and it looked like a 200+ score would be quite a challenge for New Zealand. James Franklin played a patient knock and took the score to 224/8 at the end of the 50 overs.

A good start by the New Zealand bowlers would have helped the cause of the visitors in the 3rd Ind Vs. NZ ODI but even that was not to be. Gautam Gambhir again looked in menacing form and after the dismissal of Murali Vijay (30), the dangerous Virat Kohli came to the crease and established himself there. The duo cruised through the middle overs and notched up the target with more than 10 overs in hand.
