BCCI special meet approves disciplinary committee on Modi

MUMBAI - The Indian cricket board at its Special General Meeting (SGM) Saturday, retained the three-member disciplinary committee of Chirayu Amin, Arun Jaitley and Jyotiraditya Scindia, who are looking into the charges of financial irregularities against suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) chief Lalit Modi.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) called its SGM after Modi challenged the legality of the disciplinary committee.
“The disciplinary committee had approval of the BCCI in the Annual General Meeting but it was not recorded in the minutes of the meeting. And that’s why we had to call this SGM. This was a minor thing,” a top BCCI official told IANS.
Modi’s lawyers Mehmood Abdi said last month that the three-member disciplinary panel did not have the approval of the BCCI General Body.
