SYDNEY - England skipper Andrew Strauss has said that he was delighted after his team managed to complete a historic Ashes series win in Australia with another big victory.

Strauss’s side has wrapped up the series 3-1 following their win in the fifth Test at the SCG by an innings and 83 runs.

The victory gave the visitors their first Test series win in Australia since the 1986-87 tour.

“We came over here desperately wanting to win the series and obviously in Melbourne we retained the Ashes, but we really wanted to finish with a bang here in Sydney,” Fox Sports quoted Strauss, as saying.

“Full credit to the guys, they’ve been outstanding again. The way the bowlers bowled on day one, the batsmen did their bit again and got us a victory.”

“We’re delighted with what we’ve done and certainly going to enjoy this evening, that’s for sure,” he added.

It is also the first time that Australia has lost three matches in a series by more than an innings in 135 years of Test cricket. (ANI)
