Martin says Ahmedabad Test against India helped him regain form

WELLINGTON - New Zealand fast bowler Chris Martin reckons that his comeback Ahmedabad Test against India in November had helped him regain his confidence and form.
Martin had finished the second innings of the match with figures off 5-63, which included the wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
“It meant a lot because it was the first Test back from having such a miserable time against Australia. You find out as you play, your friends and family all have to put up with the highs and the lows of your own career as well,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Martin, as saying.
“For them to have such a low followed by such a high was pretty cool and they could see how much I enjoyed being back in the wickets. That meant more to me than most five-fors. And to see Tendulkar’s stumps move, that doesn’t happen often,” he added.
The 36-year-old is currently leading New Zealand’s bowling attack in the Test series against Pakistan, and is seven wickets short of joining Sir Richard Hadlee, Daniel Vettori and Chris Cairns in Black Caps’s 200 Test wickets club.
“I suppose 200 for a New Zealander is quite a milestone. In that context, if I sit back with my grey beard and a glass of wine at some stage, it’d be nice to look back and have 200 Test wickets,” Martin said.
The second Test will begin in Wellington on Saturday. (ANI)
