LONDON - Manchester United full-back Rafael has been charged with improper conduct following his outburst after being sent off in his side’s draw with Tottenham Hotspur Sunday.

The Brazilian was sent off after collecting a second booking for a foul on Benoit Assou-Ekotto, and responded with what appeared to be a foul-mouthed rant.

Forward Wayne Rooney escaped similar sanction despite seeming to swear at referee Mike Dean after being booked.
