LONDON - Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has vowed to go to any length to get a permanent Anfield deal for Kenny Dalglish, who is back at the club as caretaker-boss for the rest of the season.

Gerrard is determined to ensure King Kenny’s second coming turns into a long-term reign.

“I want to do all in my power to ensure he stays here for a long time beyond the initial six months,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.

“I’d love nothing better when the end of the season comes to be on the back of a good run of results which ensure he gets the job full-time. That’s my plan, to give everything I’ve got and all my energy to try and make that happen,” Gerrard said.

“I won’t lie, when Kenny rang to say he was coming back, it was a big lift. I love him as a person and I’ve certainly enjoyed the first few days we’ve had working together. I can see a positive future for Kenny at the club. He is perfect to get everyone moving in the right direction again,” he said.

Gerrard said: “Kenny is the talisman at this club. It’s time to regroup because this season certainly hasn’t been good enough. Confidence is low, there is no denying that. When you are on a sequence of results like we have been, that is the case.

“We’re winning one, then drawing, then losing. That’s inconsistent and affects confidence and belief.” (ANI)
