‘Gatecrashing Oz teen’ now tells Clarke to ‘hit the nets’ to overcome form slump

SYDNEY - Victorian teenager Daniel Brew has advised Australia’s stand-in skipper Michael Clarke to hit the nets for two days to work on his game in a bid to lift himself out of his form slump.
Daniel Brew became an overnight celebrity after gatecrashing Clarke’s pre-game press conference to give the struggling batsman batting tips.
Brew, 17, from Geelong, was at Bellerive Oval yesterday where he witnessed Clarke’s lean summer when he was dismissed for just 10, caught at point after chasing a wide delivery from Tim Bresnan.
“He didn’t roll his wrist enough when he played his shot. [He] probably played the ball too early. He could have left it but didn’t,” Brew said of Clarke, who has represented his country 286 times in the three forms of the game.
Brew, who told Clarke on Thursday he should stop playing away from his body, said the Test vice-captain needed to spend extra time practising if he wanted to run himself back into form, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
“‘I reckon if he knuckled down and went into the nets for a couple of days then he could have it in two days and have it all good,” Brew said. (ANI)
