WELLINGTON - New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Chief Executive Justin Vaughan has said the national team could soon see the appointment of two different coaches for Twenty20s and Tests.

Vaughan, however, said any decision on whether to assign someone other than John Wright to oversee the Twenty20 team is still a long way off. It’s not on the radar at the moment, but I think it’s something that in the future we probably need to consider. But it’s not a here and now conversation,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Vaughan, as saying.

“When you look at where world cricket is moving, it’s something that you would have to say, with the volume of cricket that’s being played and us continually wanting to improve our test level performance, then I guess things like a separate limited overs coach or T20 coach might be something we want to think about in the future.”But it’s not something we are thinking about in the short term,” he added.

Vaughan further said any decision on whether to appoint a separate coach for the Twenty20 team would be made by the newly-formed cricket committee.

The committee, chaired by Stephen Boock, includes Chris Moller, Rob Hart, Sir John Hansen, Martin Crowe, Shane Bond and Gerard Gillespie. (ANI)
