SYDNEY - Australian batsman Mike Hussey and off-spinner Nathan Hauritz have been ruled out the 15-man national squad for the upcoming World Cup due to injury.

The duo will be replaced by South Australian batsman Callum Ferguson and Tasmanian off-spinner Jason Krejza.

Hussey was ruled out with a hamstring tendon injury and Hauritz by a shoulder dislocation.

“The NSP (national selection panel) has determined that the best strategy to ensure a successful campaign is for Australia to enter the tournament with a fully fit squad of 15 from the first game,” the Age quoted chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch, as saying.

Hilditch said that batsman Shaun Marsh (hamstring strain) and left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty (back injury) were not considered as replacements due to their own injury concerns.

Australia’s first game of the tournament is against Zimbabwe on February 21. (ANI)
