SYDNEY - Australian team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris has said that key members of the 15-man squad for the World Cup who had been under slight injury clouds were progressing well.

“Ricky Ponting is going well in his rehabilitation following his finger fracture,” the Age quoted Kountouris, as saying.

“He is batting regularly and is expected to transition into unrestricted training soon after the team arrives in India,” he added.

Ponting had missed the final Ashes Test and the entire seven-match ODI series against England due to the broken finger.

Kountouris further said that wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin’s swollen knee is expected to heal quickly.

Haddin had suffered the injury after being struck while batting during the final ODI on Sunday.

All-rounder Steve Smith is also making good progress after straining a groin during the Sydney ODI last Wednesday. (ANI)
