Over 7,000 participate in Mumbai Cyclothon

MUMBAI - More than 7,000 people participated in the ‘Mumbai Cyclothon - Tour de Mumbai 2011′ here Sunday, two days after the Nashik leg of the race.

The second edition of the cyclothon kicked off from Bandra Reclamation near the Bandra-Worli Sealink here in the morning and it saw Maharashtra Public Works Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and several television personalities take to cycles.

Several children aged 8-13 also took part in the three-kilometre Kids Race.

Apart from the ‘Elite International Men’ race, which covered a distance of 104 km, the other categories included the 14-km ‘Corporate Challenge Ride’ and the 12-km ‘Green Ride’.

The total prize money of Rs.500,000 will be distributed among the top 20 winners of the cyclothon.
