Hussey’s selection in Oz World Cup squad will undermine faith in batsmen: Shipperd

SYDNEY - Victorian coach Greg Shipperd believes that including batsman Michael Hussey in Australia’s 15-man World Cup squad in place of injured fast bowler Doug Bollinger would skew the balance of the squad, and undermine the faith in the batsmen.
“You’ve got to back your batters. They’re all fit and healthy and they’re your first choice. If they’re looking for bowlers then their alternatives are if they want to change the balance of their squad, to suit the wickets, they’ll go with [Xavier] Doherty as the first choice,” the Age quoted Shipperd, as saying.
“If they want to replace a fast-bowler with a fast-bowler then obviously [Peter] Siddle or [James] Pattinson would be the two you’d go to. The third option, which obviously we’d be less-inclined to from a Victorian point of view, would be [James] Hopes. He’s performing brilliantly but seems to be off the radar at the minute,” he added.
Bollinger will be sent home due to an ankle injury that may require surgery.
The selectors will decide which player will join them over the next few days. (ANI)
