Attorneys: Stallworth to plead guilty in Fla. DUI
MIAMI — Attorneys say Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth has agreed to plead guilty to a DUI manslaughter charge in Florida and will likely serve some time in jail.
The 28-year-old player is accused of striking and killing a pedestrian with his Bentley on his way back from a night out in Miami Beach in March.
Stallworth is scheduled to enter the plea Tuesday morning in a Miami courtroom.
Prosecutors’ spokeswoman Terry Chavez says he will likely do some jail time, followed by lengthy probation and numerous conditions. He could have faced up 15 years in prison.
Chavez says the family of 59-year-old victim Mario Reyes wanted to resolve the case.
Stallworth had a blood-alcohol level of .126 after the crash, well above Florida’s .08 limit.
