Vikings waive cornerback Charles Gordon
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have waived cornerback Charles Gordon.
The team announced the move Monday. Gordon was entering his fourth season undrafted out of Kansas. He had worked his way up to be the nickel back and primary punt returner, until suffering a severe leg injury last November.
Gordon needed surgery after he was tackled at the end of a return in a game against Green Bay. He broke the fibula bone near his ankle and sustained ligament damage.
The Vikings have signed starters Cedric Griffin and Antoine Winfield to contract extensions, and they drafted another cornerback, Asher Allen, in the third round. With training camp set to begin Friday, they’ve got eight players at the position.
