Wahle released, Withrow signed by Seattle
RENTON, Wash. — Two-time Pro Bowl offensive guard Mike Wahle has been released by the Seattle Seahawks before their first practice of training camp.
Wahle was released before the Seahawks took the field Friday afternoon. The team said Wahle failed his physical on Friday morning.
The 32-year-old Wahle was signed away from Carolina before the 2008 season. He had surgery in December on the same right shoulder on which he had surgery in 2006. Wahle has played 11 seasons.
Seattle also signed veteran offensive lineman Cory Withrow, a former Washington State Cougar. Agent David Canter wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Friday morning that the nine-year NFL veteran is flying in to sign a one-year contract for the 10-year veteran’s minimum of $845,000. The deal includes a $25,000 bonus. Canter said the 34-year-old Withrow will compete at guard and center.
