Salgaocar SC in finals of Manchester United tourney

NEW DELHI - Salgaocar Sports Club will compete in the world finals of Manchester United Premier Cup (MUPC) under-15 football tournament.
Salgaocar SC defeated Raghav FC to win the India leg of the MUPC. The team left for Manchester Saturday to play against top international clubs in the world finals Aug 5-9. This year saw 60 teams participate in the India leg of the tournament.
Some of the teams to participate in the MUPC world finals are AS Roma (Italy), Real Madrid (Spain), West Bromwich Albion (England) and Orlando Pirates (South Africa).
On the occasion of the team’s departure, Praful Patel, President, All India Football Federation, said: “We are proud to see an Indian U-15 club team play on an international stage and compete with the best in class.
“The AIFF-Nike partnership is not only a testimony to our commitment to Indian Football but also a partnership with a shared sense of purpose and a united vision for Indian football.”
