Cardinals sign C Fowler, place FB Green on IR
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals have signed center Melvin Fowler to a one-year contract and placed fullback Justin Green on injured reserve with a knee injury.
The team also released center Donovan Raiola.
Fowler, in his eighth NFL season, played the last three years with Buffalo after signing as a free agent. He started all 16 games for the Bills in 2006 and 2007. Last season, he played in 14 games, five as a starter.
Green, out of football last season after being released by Baltimore, is out for the season with a partially torn knee ligament. Coach Ken Whisenhunt says several fullbacks will be tried out to fill Green’s roster spot.
