Mangini figured Favre would be back
BEREA, Ohio — Brett Favre’s old boss isn’t surprised the iconic quarterback is back in the NFL.
Eric Mangini, who coached Favre last season with the New York Jets before being fired and taking the same job in Cleveland, said Wednesday he wasn’t surprised Favre signed with the Minnesota Vikings after initially retiring.
Mangini said he told Favre long ago that he would make the right decision, adding his time with Favre made him a better coach.
Mangini also noted the irony that his first game as Browns coach will be against Favre on Sept. 13. Mangini said the matchup “makes for good TV.”
