Samford comes back to beat Miles 31-12

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Dustin Taliafero scored three touchdowns and Chris Evans rushed for 162 yards and a score to lead Samford over Miles 31-12 on Saturday.

The game was the first of two this season to feature College Hall of Fame members squaring off as head coaches. Samford coach Pat Sullivan earned the recognition in 1991 from his days as a Heisman winner at Auburn, and Miles coach Billy Joe got the nod in 2007 due to his spot behind Eddie Robinson for the second most coaching wins in black college football history (241).

Taliafero was only 9 of 22 passing for 85 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, but rushed for 31 yards and a pair of TDs.

Samford (2-1) scored 31 straight points after trailing Miles (2-2) early in the second quarter. Taliafero scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter and a 5-yarder in the fourth.
