Vick warns DC crowd away from dogfighting

WASHINGTON — Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick told a sparse crowd at a Washington, D.C., church that he regrets his decisions that led to prison time for running a dogfighting ring.

Vick on Tuesday repeatedly called dogfighting “pointless” and says he doesn’t know why he got so involved in it. He says he wants to be an example for change.

The former Atlanta Falcons star served 18 months in prison for running the ring in Surry County, Va.

The afternoon talk at Covenant Baptist Church, in one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods, was sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States.

Vick has been working with the group since his release from prison this summer.
