Rams offensive tackle Smith out vs. Packers
ST. LOUIS — St. Louis Rams right tackle Jason Smith, the No. 2 overall pick in the April draft, will not play Sunday in the home opener against Green Bay because of a sprained left knee.
Adam Goldberg was to start in place of Smith, who was hurt during the second quarter of last week’s 9-7 loss at Washington.
Coach Steve Spagnuolo has said the injury will not require surgery.
The Packers will play without offensive tackle Chad Clifton, who suffered an ankle injury in last week’s 31-24 home loss to Cincinnati. Safety Nick Collins was scheduled to play, despite a clavicle injury suffered in the Bengals game.
