BASLE - Exhausted Novak Djokovic is determined to make the most of the remainder of the marathon Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) season, saying his top priority will be to get some much-needed December rest.

As the demands of the nearly nonstop campaign continue to press, top players are feeling the heat.

“I’ve played the most matches this season,” said the Serb, with 69 wins, 18 losses and two titles in 2009. “The sponsors and tournaments don’t want to see top players pulling out at the last minute due to injury. Hopefully we can work something out.”

Djokovic, a member of the ATP Player Council headed by Roger Federer, said that meetings in Paris and London over the next month could help ease the situation in future years.

“A really off-season needs to be at least a month and a half or more - but that’s not the case this year,” said Djokovic, whose season will not end until late November due to the season-wrap-up World Tour Finals in London.

“I don’t know what I’ll do (in December) but I know I have to rest - that is just as important as work.”
