Quinnipiac defeats Hartford 85-74

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — James Feldeine scored 23 points and Quinnipiac held off Hartford 85-74 Friday night in the season opener for both teams.

The first half of the inaugural Connecticut 6 Classic was tied 10 times. The Bobcats led 43-39 after Feldeine scored on a three-point play with 5 seconds left to finish the half with 14 points. Joe Zeglinski hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Hawks to give Quinnipiac a 43-42 halftime margin.

Hartford pulled ahead 53-48 with 14:01 left, then the Bobcats used an 11-1 run to lead 59-54. Quinnipiac had a 13-6 spurt, capped by a 3-pointer by Deontay Twyman, to take a double-digit lead.

Jeremy Baker added 17 points for the Bobcats and James Johnson scored 15.

Joel Barkers led the Hawks with 23 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field. Zeglinski, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the 10th game last year, had 12 points.
